As the vcfo Denver team expands to meet the needs of our valued clients, Jake Jessop has joined as a Senior People Operations / HR Consultant.

Jake Jessop is an innovative people operations professional with 10+ years of experience supporting high-growth teams and customizing HR solutions to boost performance, employee engagement, and profitability. He is highly skilled in improving HR processes, building and delivering value-add programs, and navigating complex employee relations in both in-person and virtual workplaces.

Jake started his career as a recruitment coordinator for CH2M in 2012, where he managed hiring and onboarding functions for 5 full-time recruiters and led a company-wide labor certification recruitment process for H1B visa hires.

From there, he went to work at Building Materials and Construction Solutions, where he was promoted twice in 7 years, ultimately leading HR for the company’s Los Angeles market, with $350M in annual revenues and 550 employees across 12 sites in the Los Angeles metro area.

In 2021, he completed a successful 6-month contract with MTaylor Inc., a Las Vegas–based micro-wedding and event company, where he built out HR infrastructure for 100 employees and contractors, before moving to MediaNews Group as regional HR leader for the company’s Southern California division, with 600 mostly remote employees.

His most recent position before joining vcfo was HR Manager for QRails, a FinTech startup poised for global expansion. There, among other accomplishments, he vetted and replaced employee payroll and benefits providers to net $100k annual company savings while lowering employee costs.

Jake enjoys time in the outdoors, especially camping, hiking, skiing, and exploring with his two dogs.
