Alan Docherty joins vcfo as a Consulting CFO, bringing with him more than 35 years of experience. He is a senior finance, IT, and operations executive with significant experience in strategic transformation, corporate finance, and value creation.
From the CFO chair, Alan excels in managing company transformations, specifically when it comes to transactional integration, process improvement, corporate development, and ongoing optimization. His other major strength includes team building, particularly in the development of accounting and finance excellence. Alan is experienced working in public, private, private equity, and M&A integration environments through multiple transactions, including buy side, sell side, and carve out.
Prior to joining vcfo, Alan spent time with several public and private organizations in wide variety of industries. After rising through the ranks early on, he spent the bulk of his career thus far in several senior financial and operational positions, including CFO and Director of Financial Advisory Services to Senior Director of Integration Services and Senior Manager of Global Credit and Customer Operations.
Among many successes, Alan was critical in transforming an ERP system for a food producer that includes three factories across multiple states and two different legacy systems. He also spent two years in an advisory role for a food fraud detection and prevention startup company. Furthermore, he engaged with Goodwill Industries of Orange County, California on a committee for their largest annual fundraising event.
Other career highlights include preparing a middle market, private equity-backed company for sale. This was a major undertaking that included building vital weekly metrics, managing the entire 90-day sale process as a primary liaison with investment bankers, and successfully navigating a post-closing dispute in arbitration.
Alan is a recent Texas transplant. He enjoys travelling and spending quality time with his family – including six grandchildren that live nearby. He also maintains a seasonal garden, and is passing that knowledge onto his grandchildren. Alan is nearing completion of a restoration project of a classic car from the 1960s.
