vcfo welcomes Martha Steele to the Austin team as a Senior People Operations / HR Consultant.
Martha is a Senior People Operations Professional with more than 20 years of experience in human resources. She has particular expertise in implementing best business practices, reducing costs, improving recruiting, training, and retention programs, as well as redesigning benefits packages to improve employe satisfaction. Martha is bilingual, and is fluent in both English and Spanish
Martha started out as an HR Admin Assistant at a nonprofit cancer institute and within two years rose up the ladder to become a HR Manager and shortly afterwards a HR Director.
Key positions she has held include a HR Manager role at Hain Celestial Group, a Fortune 500 company, where she created and implemented a health and wellness program that reduced medical costs by 20% and was adopted as a model across North America. She developed the first ever Leadership Training Program for the facilities. She oversaw human resources, recruitment, payroll, compensation/benefits, performance management, and safety for 160 permanent employees and 100 temps across two manufacturing facilities with $120M in annual revenue.
At both Bay Cities and Toyota Material Handling Solutions, Martha led safety and compliance initiatives and implemented best business practices achieving a 75% reduction of recordable injuries at Bay Cities. At Toyota, she expanded benefits offerings while reducing annual costs and turnover.
Most recently, at Fuji Food Products, Martha directed the delivery of HR services, policies, and programs for the 150-employee manufacturing and corporate site and 500 franchised kiosk locations, supporting manufacturing, warehouse operations, engineering, sales, R&D, and corporate (finance, administration, and marketing). There, she dramatically reduced turnover and improved leadership retention through the Management Training program she developed.
